One of the most asked questions here at ROAR is “What does a coach have to do?”

One of the first things you must know about being a ROAR Coach is it is different from any other recreation league. Well, we can tell you it is a GREAT EXPERIENCE! At ROAR, we want all our kids and coaches to come to an environment where they filled loved, cared for, encouraged, and a place to grow. ROAR is different from any other sports league in the area. We want all of our players to feel like they can grow not only in sports but also in Life and Biblical Truth. Some requirements we are looking for are as follows:

– Practice once a week (hour) and games on Saturdays (hour)
– Love to have fun and be with kids
– Growing relationship with the Lord and comfortable to do devotionals
– A minimal knowledge of the sport you like to coach
– Good communications and organizational skills
– Able to handle conflict, if arises.
– Able to put together practice schedule (Skills development, Drills, and more)
– Able to delegate a Team Parent
– Attend Coaches Trainings

Coaches Training

Coaches training is held at the beginning of each Fall, Winter and Spring Season. Coaches Training is more than a talking head but is interactive. It is statistically proven that people will not retain 90% of what they hear. So we believe that doing experiental games, small groups, and interacting is the best “learning” environment. Coaches Training is broken into two different times:

1. Coaches NEW to ROAR will need to attend the New Coaches Training

2. All Returning Coaches will need to attend the Returning Coaches Training
