What is “Practice and Play”?

“Practice and Play” is for your girls (7th and 8th grade only) to get better teaching on technique and skill. On Thursday Nights, girls will show up to Westminster Gym at 6:30pm and will get proper techniques from our qualified volleyball coach and helpers. Each Clinic will run until 8:00pm for 9 weeks. At each clinic, girls will condition, be given proper form and technique to increase their volleyball skills, and have some fun. For the last 30 minutes, the girls will get to scrimmage to continue their game playing skills. We will only be able to accommodate 24 players during this time. If we have enough on the waitlist, we would consider adding another session! Please contact the ROAR Office to get more information! Cost: $99

Practice & Play Coaches:

Niki Clevenger and Dani Walters have been playing volleyball collectively for over 12 years.  Both coaches graduated from Clover High School in 2006, and became the first volleyball players from Clover HS to receive college scholarships in the sport.  Both attended and played volleyball at Newberry College, graduating cum laude in 2010. Clevenger earned a BS in Sport Management with a minor in Coaching and Walters, a BS in Communications with a minor in Sport Management. Clevenger and Walters immediately began coaching club volleyball after graduation.

Clevenger coached at Rock Hill Volleyball Club for 2 years from 2010-2011 and 2012-2013, taking a year off to continue her education in Durham, England, UK on yet another volleyball scholarship.  She competed on an international level, gaining more experience while training with various national teams and playing for Durham University’s varsity league. After a year of traveling, she returned to the U.S. and began coaching club volleyball again with Rebel Volleyball Club. While at Rock Hill Volleyball Club, Clevenger coached 2 club seasons, helped with the RHVC Developmental Program, and ran

Walters coached at Rock Hill Volleyball Club for 3 years from 2010-2013, before collaborating with multiple players’ parents to create Rebel Volleyball Club in 2014.  Walters also began coaching at Northwestern High School in 2011. She coached the Junior Varsity team her first year, with a record of 14-2 and going undefeated at Rock Hill HS’s Bearcat Classic.  The following year she took over the newly developed 9th grade team. The program finished with a 10-2 record their first year.  The second year her team went undefeated with a 10-0 regular season record, and won Rock Hill HS’s Bearcat Classic again.

In 2015, both Clevenger and Walters took a year and a half off from club and HS volleyball to focus on their careers and families.  They fill the volleyball void by playing in an adult league out of Charlotte, NC. In 2016, both coaches jumped back into coaching club with Soar Volleyball Club out of Clover, SC. Coach Clevenger taking the 14-1’s team and Coach Walters taking the 14-2’s team. At the end of the season, both coaches helped at various volleyball clinics coaching teams and their coaches in preparation for the 2016-2017 high school season.

Coach Clevenger and Coach Walters have been coaching with ROAR since March 2014, making this season their 4th season with ROAR’s Girls Volleyball Program. 2017 will be their first year coaching ROAR’s Practice and Play Clinic.
