ROAR Indoor 4v4 Volleyball League

ROAR is excited to add Indoor Volleyball to our Adult Leagues. ROAR Indoor Volleyball League will consist of 8 weeks of play, including a single elimination playoff at the end of the season (8 games guaranteed). All players must be 18 years old and up. We will need at least 6 teams to play. If we do not get enough, a refund will be given. This league is to create community and have fun, NOT for those who want to win.

Note: If we were to have an 8-12 team league, we would look into creating a 2 division league based on desired level of play (Recreational versus Competitive).

Sign-up Period:

Wednesday, February 19 - Wednesday, March 18

Cost: $50

You will either sign up as a Free Agent (Single Registration) or as part of a Team for $50. The cost will include equipment and tournament champion shirts. Teams will be assigned a certain color to wear during the game.

Location:

First Baptist Church (FBC)
481 Hood Center Dr, Rock Hill, SC 29730

Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC)
1320 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732

Team Details:

Each team must consist of at least 4 players and teams are co-ed. A minimum of two females are required for each team as two are required to be on the court at one time. You may have as many as 6 on a roster, but please note that “Free Agents” could be added to any team. A maximum of 8 will be on any roster.

To Sign-Up As A Team:

One person must click on the "volunteer" tab in the registration page. Then, that person will sign-up as the 'head coach' of an indoor team. Upon doing so, they will have the ability to invite other players to join their team by sending them an e-mail. The e-mail will contain a link that will take other players to the team page to sign-up and a team code that can be used on the regular sign-up page.
Free agents simply sign-up by clicking the tab on the right and will be assigned a team.

Free Play (all players must attend):

Thursday, March 19 7:30-9:00 pm
Captains Meeting: Thursday, March 19 7:00-7:30 pm
This will give everyone the opportunity to meet, play some pick-up games, and ask any questions regarding the upcoming season.

Game Times:

Most games will be on Thursday nights, either at 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, or 8:00 pm, depending on the amount of teams we end up with. All games will be best two out of three.

Due to gym space availability, 1 night of games will be played at Westminster Presbyterian Church instead of First Baptist Church

Ultimate Frisbee Rules

Ultimate in 10 Simple Rules

bySteve Courlang and Neal Dambra
  1. The Field: A rectangular shape with end zones at each end. A regulation field is 70 yards by 40 yards, with end zones 25 yards deep.
  2. Initiate Play: Each point begins with both teams lining up on the front of their respective end zone line. The defense throws (“pulls”) the disc to the offense. A regulation game has seven players per team.
  3. Scoring: Each time the offense completes a pass in the defense’s end zone, the offense scores a point. Play is initiated after each score.
  4. Movement of the Disc: The disc may be advanced in any direction by completing a pass to a teammate. Players may not run with the disc. The person with the disc (“thrower”) has ten seconds to throw the disc. The defender guarding the thrower (“marker”) counts out the stall count.
  5. Change of Possession: When a pass is not completed (e.g. out of bounds, drop, block, interception, stalled), the defense immediately takes possession of the disc and becomes the offense.
  6. Substitutions: Players not in the game may replace players in the game after a score and during an injury timeout.
  7. Non-contact: No physical contact is allowed between players. Picks and screens are also prohibited. A foul occurs when contact is made.
  8. Fouls: When a player initiates contact on another player a foul occurs. When a foul disrupts possession, the play resumes as if the possession was retained. If the player committing the foul disagrees with the foul call, the play is redone.
  9. Self-Officiating: Players are responsible for their own foul and line calls. Players resolve their own disputes.
  10. Spirit of the Game: Ultimate stresses sportsmanship and fair play. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play.
